I think we have all made those kinds of decisions, and we have all found ourselves between a rock and a hard place – or backed into a corner. In those times we have to make a choice, do we focus on our problems, or do we focus on the answer? There is always an answer, it is not always the easiest, or the choice we would want, but God always gives us the answer if we ask. I speak with confidence, as I have been there before, and truth be told and there now.
Sometimes His wisdom seems foolishness to us, but if we obey, He uses that to make the way. Sometimes it is painful, I am reminded of 2Sam 24. David had sinned and found himself in a corner: “So Gad came to David and told him; and he said to him, “Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or shall you flee three months before your enemies, while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ plague in your land? Now consider and see what answer I should take back to Him who sent me.” David faced a painful choice, in His wisdom He chose to fall upon the judgment and mercy of God. Sometimes we face the same sort of choices, but God’s mercy and grace is always the best choice.
Having said that I have found that most often IF we make the wrong choice out of a desire to obey God and do His will we can count on His grace in our time of need. No it’s not always easy, but Jesus never said everything would be easy and every day sunshine and roses. Rather, He said, “take up your cross daily and follow me”, and “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” No it’s not always easy, but He will give you what you need to persevere and break through to victory. Best of all, I have found that the hard times invariably are also the times where the greatest treasures are revealed.
