You are a believer, but in what?

Have you ever wondered why you do the things you do?  Do you ever wish you could have done something differently after you are painfully experiencing the outcome?  It's not that you would have done something differently.  It just that you wish you could have.  Make sense?

Let me give you an example:  Suppose you are at work and your boss tells you to "fake the numbers".  Maybe your boss is a believer, just like you.  Maybe your boss even led you to Christ.  If you fake the numbers, it means a big bonus for you.  It is very unlikely your creative accounting will ever be discovered and the bonus is just enough cash for the mission trip you want to go on.

On the flip side if you don't fake the numbers, it is likely you will lose your job as the economy has taken a turn for the worse.  Your territory has not been meeting corporate expectations.  You have already been warned.  Your family is being threatened by the possible job loss.  There is but one way out.  You must fake it!  Right?

I hope and pray when you became a believer, no one told you it was going to be easy.  As a matter of fact, if you are following God you need to expect trouble.  There is no avoiding it.  You do not belong to this world and you can not avoid conflict.  Suffering and conflict are bedfellows.  You need to embrace them both.

I hope I communicated this message:  You do not choose conflict.  Conflict chooses you out of an obedient walk.  It is not that you want to be troublesome, it is that you can not avoid being troublesome.  missio dei
