Where does love come from?

I was invited to share dinner with Pastor John and a group of his
friends who had traveled and served on a mission trip to Rio de
Janeiro. It was about a year ago and the pastor from Brazil was now
visiting his friends in Texas. I had a wonderful time listening to
their adventures. Some how Barbara stretched out on the sidewalk to
avoid gunfire is taxing on my imagination. Ha!

Pastor Daniel lives the life that movies are made out of. He and his
family serve the people of Rio with an infectious love that even the
drug lords are respectful of. Recently, his church bought the life of
a drug addict. The young man could not pay his crack cocaine drug
bills and death was knocking. The young man is now in a Christian
drug rehab center and he came to know Jesus as his Savior. He was
saved twice. Once by Daniel and once eternally by Christ. Amazing!

Inevitably, the question had to come up. "Have you ever seen God do
anything?" I had to apologize before I asked because he didn't know
me and I didn't want him to take offense. He is a great story teller.
I hope to incorporate his stories in future blogs.

A singularly impressive story was when there was a motorcycle accident
in front of their church. A young man died as his teenage daughter
did all she could to keep him alive. The God Spot was in the love
discovered by his daughter for people that were unloveable. She has
determined she wants to be a doctor. Next time she will be of more
help to the one in need...
