What are you willing to die for? Jesus gave it all.

In highschool, I worked at a local grocery store.  It was a good job.  I bagged and carried groceries to people's cars.  Sometimes, I even got a tip by some kind person.  One day was a bit more eventful than others.

It seems a couple guys had a dispute over a girl.  Each thought the other was muscling in on the other's turf or girl as the case was.  Somehow they decided the best way to settle the dispute was to meet in the grocery store's parking lot and have it out.  One guy thought talking was probably a good way to resolve the dispute.  Apparently, the other guy had a different idea on conflict resolution.

They drove up with cars facing each other.  They got out of their cars.  Unfortunately for both, one of the guys had a shotgun.  He pointed at the other guy and fired at point blank range.  The shooter left the guy laying on the pavement and sped off.  The guy on the pavement was dead.

It makes me wonder if the guy lieing on the ground was willing to die for the girl of his dreams or was he just part of an unfortunate set of events.

When Jesus found Himself on the cross and confronted with a choice of dieing for us that we might have life or calling down thousands of angels to settle the score, He chose life for you and I.  He may have preferred some other solution, but if this was the way it had to be in a path of obedience, He was willing to die for you and me.

Tell me.  If you were required to die in order that another might live, would you? Balance that thought against the grace shown by Jesus toward you and I when He chose His place on the cross.  God bless you in your walk and may you constantly find yourself in the presence of Jesus.
