So there was this king who took a georgeous lady to be his wife only to find out she was married to a prophet. God came to the king and said to give her back or he and his family would die. The ladies of his family were already made childless as punishment for the king taking this lady as his wife even though the marriage was not consumated.
It seems "Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law" is a Biblical principle. You do bad. You are punished. The interesting part is God says He kept the king from going to bed with the lady and thus kept him from sinning, yet he is still punished. I find that odd. Now for the rest of the story...
Then Abimelech gave Sarah back to Abraham, and along with her sent sheep and cattle and servants, both male and female. He said, "My land is open to you; live wherever you wish."Then Abraham prayed to God and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his maidservants, and they started having babies again.
God revealed to the king the error of his ways. Revelation demands action. The king obediently gave the lady back and blessed her family. God blessed the king and his family. It is all about knowing right from wrong, being obedient even when you ignorantly do wrong and then obediently following God's direction in fixing the bad you did. God blesses OBEDIENCE!
